From each exchange's latest 5-minute snapshot. ≥ marks a lower bound: an exchange's book ended inside the ±2% band, or its latest snapshot is missing (always the case for BTC and ETH, whose dense books reach only about ±0.15–0.4%).
How to read a liquidity heatmap
Each coin's heatmap plots price against time. The colour of a cell is the USD value of limit orders resting in the order book at that price at that minute: green for bids (buy orders, below the price) and red for asks (sell orders, above it), brighter for more. The line is the price.
Walls. A bright horizontal band is a large order that stayed in the book. If the price reaches it and the band ends, the order was filled; if the band vanishes before the price gets there, it was pulled. Large orders that are pulled as the price approaches are a classic sign of spoofing.
Not liquidations. These are orders traders actually placed. The liquidation heatmap is different: a model of where leveraged positions would be force-closed, which nobody places in advance. The two often line up, because traders park orders where they expect liquidations.
Coverage. Binance and Bybit USDⓈ-M perpetual order books (USDT pairs), one REST snapshot every 60 seconds, summed into price bins. Orders that appear and vanish within a minute (spoofing) are mostly missed. Hyperliquid is not included yet. Grey cells were beyond the depth the books returned (not observed, not empty), and past Bybit's depth a bin holds Binance orders only.
