How to read a liquidation map

Each coin's map is a bar chart of price. A bar's length is the estimated value of leveraged positions that would be liquidated if the price reached it: long liquidations below the current price (forced selling on the way down), short liquidations above it (forced buying on the way up). Dashed lines add the bars up from the price outwards, so you can read off how much would be liquidated by a 3% or a 10% move.

Why it matters. A liquidation is a market order the trader didn't choose to send. A big block of levels close to the price can speed up a move once it is reached; one far away matters less. Read the bars as zones, not exact prices: they are estimates.

What is a crypto liquidation map?

A chart of how much leveraged money would be force-closed at each price, drawn as bars around the current price: long liquidation levels below it, short ones above, with a running total from the price outwards. Tall bars close to the price are the levels a move would hit first.

Liquidation map, heatmap or levels: which one should I use?

The map is a snapshot of the levels still open now, by price. The liquidation heatmap adds time, showing how those levels built up and were cleared. The liquidation levels pages list the biggest clusters as tables. All three come from the same estimate.

Are these real positions?

No. Binance, Bybit and the other centralised exchanges don't publish where their users would be liquidated, so every map for them is a model. This one is built from the open interest changes this site records on each exchange, and the methodology page scores it daily against real liquidations. On Hyperliquid, where positions are on-chain, the Hyperliquid liquidation map adds up real tracked positions instead.
