Ethereum Volume-Weighted Funding Rate History (30 Days)
Ethereum (ETH) perpetual funding over the last 30 days, one completed hour at a time: each market's hourly average quote weighted by its recorded 24-hour volume, against the simple average of exactly the same markets. Rates are in the site's 8-hour unit; they are quotes, not settled payments.
Latest usable hour (2026-10-29 06:00 UTC to 07:00 UTC, 14 markets): volume-weighted +0.0036% per 8 hours against a simple average of +0.0046% over the same markets. 693 of 720 hours are plotted; the volume-weighted quote was above the simple average in 164 of them. The widest gap was at 24 Oct 19:00 UTC: -0.0042% volume-weighted against -0.0006% average across 14 markets.

How it's counted. For every completed hour the site stores each market's funding_avg, the mean of the funding quotes recorded in that hour in the normalised 8-hour unit, and its last recorded trailing 24-hour USD volume. Markets with a finite quote and a positive finite volume are eligible; volume-weighted = sum(quote × volume) ÷ sum(volume) and simple average = mean(quote) over exactly those markets, so both lines describe the same population every hour. An hour with fewer than 2 eligible markets is a gap: nothing is forward-filled and a missing volume never becomes a zero-funding weight. The weight column is that hour's recorded trailing volume; trailing windows overlap from hour to hour and are never added across time.
What it is not. An hourly average quote is not a payment: exchanges settle funding at their own intervals at the rate then in force. Hours are not compounded or summed, and nothing on this page is a yield or an obtainable return. The daily table shows plain means of the plotted hourly figures.
Source and timing. One bounded read of the hourly table for the catalog's native ETH perps (at most 32 exact markets, 720 hours each), currently 14 markets on Aster, Binance, Bitget, Bybit, Gate, HTX, Hyperliquid, KuCoin, Lighter and MEXC. Only hours the database has materialised are read, 2 hours behind the clock, so the chart ends at 2026-10-29 07:00 UTC and never includes the running hour. The latest usable hour is dated above and flagged when it ended more than 6 hours ago; the page is indexed only with at least 24 fresh usable hours. HIP-3 and spot markets are never included.
Ethereum volume-weighted funding FAQ
What is Ethereum's volume-weighted funding rate?
The average funding rate across Ethereum's perpetual markets, each weighted by its trailing 24-hour trading volume in USD. A market trading ten times as much counts ten times as much, so the figure follows where the trading is rather than the number of listings.
How is each hour computed?
For every completed hour this site stores each market's average funding quote and its last recorded 24-hour volume. Markets with a finite quote and a positive volume are eligible; the volume-weighted rate is sum(quote × volume) ÷ sum(volume) over them, and the simple average is the plain mean of the same quotes. An hour with fewer than 2 eligible markets is left blank.
Is this what longs paid?
No. The hourly figure is the average of quoted rates in that hour, in the 8-hour unit the whole site uses, not a settlement. Payments happen at each exchange's own interval at the rate then in force; rates are never compounded or added across hours here, and nothing on this page is a yield.
Why do the volume-weighted and simple-average lines differ?
The simple average gives a thin listing the same vote as the busiest market. When the busy markets quote more than the quiet ones the volume-weighted line sits above the average, and below it when the extreme quotes come from markets with little trading.
Why does the chart stop a few hours before now?
The hourly table this page reads is refreshed by the database a couple of hours behind the clock. Only materialised hours are read, so the newest hours are missing by design rather than built from an incomplete hour. The latest usable hour is dated on the page, and a reading older than 6 hours is flagged as stale.
