Work out where an isolated-margin Gate perpetual is liquidated, for a long or a short, with Gate's own maintenance margin tier for the coin and the position value you enter, not one default rate. The form starts with the live price of the coin you pick.

With BTC at a live price of $84,095.50, a $10,000.00 10x long on Gate is liquidated near $75,913.69 (-9.73%), at Gate's tier 1 maintenance margin rate of 0.30%.

Worked example

BTC long, the numbers above
  1. You open a 10x long of 0.118912 BTC ($10,000.00) at $84,095.50. Your initial margin is $10,000.00 ÷ 10 = $1,000.00.
  2. Gate puts a $10,000.00 position in risk tier 1: a maintenance margin rate of 0.30%, and at most 200x leverage.
  3. Liquidation price = (entry × (1 − 1/leverage)) ÷ (1 − MMR) = $75,913.69.
  4. That is 9.73% below your entry.

How Gate calculates liquidation

BTC_USDT

Gate liquidates an isolated USDT perpetual when the position margin falls to the maintenance margin: position value × the maintenance rate of its risk limit tier, less the tier's deduction. Enter your taker fee to include the fee to close. Liquidation follows the mark price.

The formula

Long: Liquidation = (Entry × (1 − 1/Leverage) − Deduction ÷ Quantity) ÷ (1 − MMR − fee)

Short: Liquidation = (Entry × (1 + 1/Leverage) + Deduction ÷ Quantity) ÷ (1 + MMR + fee)

The maintenance margin is position value × MMR − deduction, with the MMR and the deduction of the tier your position value falls in. Without a deduction this is the classic isolated-margin formula of the liquidation price calculator. Quantity = position value ÷ entry.

Gate Liquidation Price Calculator FAQ

What maintenance rate does Gate use?

Gate's risk limit tiers give each band of position value a maintenance rate, a maximum leverage and a deduction. This page reads them from Gate's public risk limit tiers endpoint.

What is the deduction in Gate's tiers?

A fixed USDT amount taken off the maintenance margin in the higher tiers, so the margin rises smoothly with the position instead of jumping at each tier boundary.

How is the Gate liquidation price calculated?

For an isolated long: (entry × (1 − 1/leverage) − deduction ÷ quantity) ÷ (1 − maintenance margin rate − fee). For a short: (entry × (1 + 1/leverage) + deduction ÷ quantity) ÷ (1 + maintenance margin rate + fee). The maintenance margin is charged on the position's value at the liquidation price; the rate and the deduction come from the tier your position value falls in.

Where can I see every tier?

The BTC max leverage page lists the full tier tables of Bybit, Bitget, Gate and Hyperliquid side by side. For a calculator with your own maintenance margin rate, use the liquidation price calculator.
