About the XAUT long/short ratio

What is the XAUT long/short ratio?

The number of traders long divided by the number short on XAUT perpetuals. Binance accounts: the share of accounts with an open position whose net position is long. Binance top traders: the share of the combined position of the top 20% of Binance futures users by margin that is long. Bybit accounts: the share of users holding a long. A share of 60% long is a ratio of 1.50.

How to read it for XAUT

Account ratios count people, not money, and retail accounts lean long most of the time, so the level alone says little. Look at changes (the crowd piling in or out) and at divergence between top traders and all accounts. Some traders fade extreme readings, since a crowded side can be squeezed, but that often fails. Not financial advice.

How often it updates

Binance and Bybit publish a new value every 5 minutes, fetched shortly afterwards. The previous 24 hours are backfilled from the exchanges when the server starts, so the chart is complete straight away. Ratios cover the top 100 perpetuals by volume. Compare all coins.
